It's a new day
Hey!! It’s been a minute. A long one! December…wow!
Please excuse the hiatus…if the truth be known, I wanted to have improved within myself by the next time you heard from me.
For those of you just meeting me, welcome! In a nutshell…
My name is Carlene ‘QueenBrit’ Graham & music is my love, singing is my passion.
I’m from London…live in Spain…& my roots are in Jamaica. I have just released my debut album ‘Vibrations‘ & am now on a mission to tell as many people as I can about it! I’m about to do this, the way that God intended, once & for all! My blog? A platform for expression. Starting with family & friends, & reaching as far as y’all!
For those of you that know me, thank you for your continued support! It’s noticed & greatly appreciated. This last year has been a journey. A positive one. Although sometimes beyond my understanding of the course of events that have taken place over the last 14 months, one thing is clear, I wanna make it. No question.

My girl Natasha Carver decided to come over & spend some time with my family & I.
She came accompanied with her partner Adam Barker who was also celebrating his Birthday! Boy, I can’t even begin to describe the journey, that is our friendship. But the conclusion that Tash & I always come to, is: “It’s for a reason.” That’s good enough for us!

Urbanites In Flight
My boy Orikl is an outstanding artist, & by that, I mean across all levels of art.
I had the pleasure of meeting Orikl in Newark NJ where I was living at the time, & an even greater pleasure of his friendship. The first time I saw him perform, it was a wrap! ‘My Funny Valentine‘ was the song. Moved was the mood. I always loved THIS too!
Orikl has just released ‘Urbanites In Flight‘. In my opinion, it is incredible. Just listen!

C IS FOR CURE
C is for Cure
C is for Cure has been founded by my friend Lolly Maher.
In her own words…
“My son was diagnosed in Sep with stage 4b Lymphoma he has had Chemo and it didnt work he is now spending most of his days in and out of hospital. To be honest he is my hero as he has taken this on the chin and is staying strong even when in the deepest pain during the time. Since he was diagnosed the thing that struck me the most is that there is little or no emotional support for him or my other 3 boys.
There is the fantastic teenage cancer trust but he is too old for their services. They even have a beautiful new ward in the UCH which is a stones throw from us but it is for young people up until the age of 19. Being 21 i know he is officially an adult but to be honest he is still very much a child needing comfort and guidance and needing to believe he can still fulfill his dreams. Any support group we have been to are mostly made up of older people which in itself is not a problem and I’m glad they exist but he doesn’t relate to any of them being a young black man who is educating the doctors on street slang! Lol, yes he is giving them a lot of jokes!
I feel a bit useless in this situation as medically I can do nothing my child’s life is in the hands of strangers so I have felt compelled to do something. So i am in the very early stages of setting up C is for Cure.. I aim to raise funds to a) send my child on a world trip when he gets a break for this horrible treatment and b) raise enough so that other families from low economic back groups can get some practical and emotional support and an opportunity to have a memorable experience once treatment is done, should they find themselves in this enormously stressful situation.
I am also setting up a support group for young adults who have been effected by life changing illness/ disability and their siblings and family and finally i want to raise aware of how easily your life can me turned completely upside down in one day (the importance of loving your family today not tomorrow). I am asking who ever ( and to be honest the more the merrier) to help me to fund raise to make the above possible.
I am sorry if this is a little rambling, I am a little tired as I have spent the best part of the week between the hospital and work.

1) What do you do & how well do you do it?
I have earned my keep for the past 30 years, as a Singer/Songwriter, with chart topping audio recordings and globally popular live music performances.
2) Where do you foresee yourself 12 months from today?
Foreseeing the future is beyond my capability, but my goal is to be healthy and happy, however the tide turns. Plans are in the making for the release of another studio album, live album, and a variety of worldwide concerts, plus, I hope to complete a 1 mile swim for the Cancer Research UK charity in 2012 as well.
3) What was one of the most memorable times in your life?
The most memorable time in my life is the day my son was born.
4) Given the resources, what one change would you make in the world & why?
If I had the resources, the main change I would go for in this world is to equal the playing field, universally. If we all had the same opportunities, then wars, famine, etc., would decrease considerably. Although conflict is a part of human nature, so is peace and harmony.
5) What do you think of my daily blog?
Very progressive of you to keep this blog with the view of promoting goodwill!
