THE IMPORTANCE OF SUCCESS

Hey y´all!! Thanks for checking in with me again…
Been reflecting on many levels these last couple of days. I must firstly thank you all SO MUCH for supporting my blog. At least 25 of my friends took the liberty of sharing the link on Facebook & by the end of Monday, my blog had exceeded 12,000 hits!!! Also, for those of you that commented, it was greatly appreciated…my mum was happy that so many of you felt inspired by what she had to say, which in turn, made me feel GREAT that y´all embraced my mum!! 🙂 THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!!
Also, as a direct result of checking in on my blog, I´ve noticed a huge increase on my Myspace page too!! It has now exceeded 250,000 hits & 46,000 song plays in just 2 years…y´all are killing me!! 🙂 MUCH LOVE xxx

As a mother, I encourage my lil man on a daily & try to make sure that I let him know frequently that all things in life are possible. However, to me, it´s obvious…the ONLY way to teach my son success is to accomplish it myself & that is the mission at hand.
My blog is the perfect outlet for me to express myself, lend myself as a platform of expression for others as well as share my music with you…schweeeet!! 🙂

DAVINA ELLIOTT

Davina Elliott

Davina Elliott

It gives me great pleasure to be writing this right now 🙂
Davina is my good friend from my college days. As well as being one of the baaaaadest dancers & choreographer´s I know (we used to refer to her as Davina ´Missy´ Elliott!), she is one of the kindest, sweetest souls I have had the pleasure of meeting. Always, cool, calm & positive in nature, I´m just sorry that we haven´t had the chance to spend more time together in the last decade! It´s all good though…plenty of fun times ahead to come!

Davina reached out to me last week & said the following…

“I recently lost an ex to Cancer & my cousin was diagonised with Breast Cancer last month which has pushed me to do this…
In a time when everything is raising except our wages, charities like this lose out. So I have decided that on Friday, 1st April 2011 I will shave my head to raise money for Cancer Research.
To me, I think my hair worth more than £700 but let’s face it, some of those who suffer from Cancer need to shave to save or preserve their life, why shouldn’t I do it for the same reason?
We all know someone who has suffered or been affected by Cancer & more importantly we need to ensure our own future should we or loved ones be diagonised. Without this research we cannot preserve or save lives so let’s give this charity a good push in the right direction. I’m not expecting you to break the bank in your donation, only you know your limits & please feel free to pass this on to friends & family. So we can give what we can for an incredible cause…”

I love you D & admire what you are doing for a cause you believe in. Also my mum said the same thing this morning. It a cause close to her heart as she lost her mother to the same thing in 1998…RIP Linda Bennett (Mama).

THROWBACK OF THE DAY

Yup…it´s back!!

Today´s throwback of the day is:

´Bad´ – Michael Jackson

This was the first album that I remember listening to aged 7 years old that blew me away. At that age, my life consisted of school & home…that was pretty much it…until that album came along! I had never heard music like it in my life. It made me sing, dance, pulled on heart strings & made me wanna be a star all in the same instance. I was at the same time that I was absolutely…& I mean absolutely hooked on The Wiz…if you don´t know, get to know! Michael Jackson kept my musical company in life…Thank you & RIP to the greatest that was.

1) What do you do & how well do you do it?

I host a women’s talk show called Real Deal Women. We’ve been doing this show since August 17 of 2008 and I must say my team and I do it quite well. 😉

2) Where do you foresee yourself twelve months from today?

I envision Real Deal Women causing a big buzz in both male and female networks. I hope that we will help bring about a much needed positive movement for the ladies; not just in music & entertainment but in all aspects of life and most of all, to celebrate the beauty of womanhood.

3) What was one of the most memorable times in your life?

One of the most memorable times in my life would be meeting my teammates. Once they came into my life and introduced me to the idea of Real Deal Women, my life literally changed for the better. It gave me motivation and a sense of purpose that I had been seeking for quite some time and although I had no experience in hosting anything, I dived in head first and found my calling.

That however, is a personal moment that I find memorable. For the show, I would say interviewing Liza Rios and Lady Luck were defining moments for Real Deal Women. We were still going through many changes and renovations but these two ladies came in to support what we were doing and I will forever be thankful as they made us realize the potential that we have as a network.

4) Given the resources, what one thing would you change in the world & why?

This may sound strange but after giving it some thought I decided that if I could, I would change the face of the music industry as we now know it. I believe that music is the key to peace and positivity. We have seen legends such as Michael Jackson, John Lennon, The Beatles, and many others that made music which literally brought the world together to make change and most importantly, united us as a people.
Music influences us in our daily lives no matter if we realize it or not. Nowadays it seems as if music has wandered off into a fast lane bringing only temporary satisfaction to the artists as well as the listeners. We need to bring it back into our lane, slow it down and really decipher the meaning behind the songs we listen to.True music comes from within our souls and connects us as a human race regardless of the language barriers. If we could turn what mainstream music is now to what it once was, we could change the world.

5) What do you think of my blog? (Message for my readers)

I love your blog Carlene as I love and support everything that you do! I wish you the best in all your endeavors and will definitely try to see you in Spain one way or another! 😉
